Rooper's Red Hot Poker(Kniphofia rooperi)
Uniquely shaped, colourful flower heads stand out.
This tall, sun-loving native of South Africa yields brilliant, bicolour flowers that look custom made for border use. While the blooms of most red hot poker varieties resemble torches—they're often also called torch lilies—Rooperi's tubular florets form oval clusters of warm orange that change to yellow towards the bottom. The impressive, nectar-rich blooms attract all manner of pollinators.
