Foamflower(TIARELLA wherryi)

Foamflower(TIARELLA wherryi)

Non-creeping form. Cream colored, starry flowers in simple racemes in late spring. In a cool shaded spot this Tiarella grows luxuriantly, showing its bronze marbling of the leaves to its best advantage. Also tolerates dry quite well.

Tirarella are shade garden all-stars. Maple-like leaves are usually marked with darker veining or pronounced crimson pattern. Panicles of starry flowers are held well above the foliage. Perfect under deciduous shrubs that get some sunlight under them. Idaho has restricted all potted plant material from being shipped into Idaho at this time.

Prefers moist, humus-rich soil with good drainage. Can be divided in spring or fall. Spreads by stolons which can be easily pulled up to control spread or planted elsewhere. Remove spent flower heads to improve appearance. Semi-evergreen so do not prune for winter.
